Mrs. Smith’s class wrote and labeled winter words using their choice of the Drawing Pad app or Paint Go (by abcya.com) on their Macbooks.  Their work was compiled into a slideshow using Kizoa.com.  Enjoy their work!

In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. day, Mrs. Smith’s students learned about his life and his work.  First, they watched a BrainPop, Jr. video about him.

Next, we discussed how people like to commemorate his impact on our country by dedicating buildings, streets and statues in his name or likeness.  We looked at these examples:

Finally, students were asked to use their tools of choice to design their own building, street or statue to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.    The tools they used include:  Paint Go! (by abcya.com), Make a House (by abcya.com), and the Drawing Pad app on the iPads.  Enjoy their work!

Mrs. Smith’s class listened to the book Tacky the Penguin by Helen Lester online by visiting this Symbaloo webmix.  Then they worked with a partner using the iPad app Drawing Pad to draw a picture of Tacky and write adjectives describing him.  Their work was assembled using kizoa.com.  Enjoy their work!

Mrs. Smith’s class used Word Cloud for Kids by abcya.com to create word clouds about what they are thankful for.  Their work was compiled in an iPhoto slideshow. Enjoy their work…and Happy Thanksgiving!

Mrs. Smith’s class had a “Maker Day.”  They used a variety of materials to construct, use their imaginations, explore a few physics concepts, tell stories and have fun.  Among the materials they used were:
